Mayor Appoints New Parks and Recreation Director

Mayor Terry Hartwick has appointed Randy Sandefur as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of North Little Rock.

Sandefur, a lifelong resident of North Little Rock, graduated from Northeast High School in 1979. Sandefur has been the head football coach at North Little Rock High School for the last two years and has spent all 40 years of his educational career in the North Little Rock School District. Sandefur coached baseball, football, girls’ basketball, and track and has been a part of three baseball state championships and one football state championship. “Randy is North Little Rock all the way! He has the leadership, passion and energy we need and will be an asset to our whole city.” said Mayor Hartwick.

Sandefur holds a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Monticello and a Masters in Secondary Educational Leadership from the University of Central Arkansas. Randy and his wife, Leslie Ballard Sandefur, have been married 32 years, have two sons, Jordan (Kelsey) and Jake (Molly Anne), two granddaughters, two grandsons and another granddaughter on the way. “I love North Little Rock! I am excited and honored to be appointed by Mayor Hartwick to work with everyone to rebuild our park, update our recreation centers and local parks”, shared Sandefur. Sandefur officially begins tomorrow, June 1, 2023.
