Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Drones, Quadcopters, RC Airplanes, Model Rockets

Each of these is a type of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and is subject to regulations from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding the type of UAV, its operational parameters, and other safety considerations.  The North Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department has therefore created rules and guidelines about the use of UAVs in city parks.

Drones, Quadcopters, RC Airplanes, and Helicopters

These UAVs cannot be launched, landed, or operated within a city park without written permission. Police, Fire, Emergency Services, and City employees are exempt while conducting their official duties.

Written permission can be obtained by completing a request form (online or hardcopy) and returning it to the Parks Department.

Model Rockets

Model rockets will only be permitted at the Burns Park Soccer Complex in Quad 4. Restrictions are placed on time of day, day of week, and engine size. Please complete the application form and return it to the Parks Department. Once the application is approved, submit an Individual Launch Request Form.
