REMINDER FOR NLR RESIDENTS REGARDING DOOR-TO-DOOR SALES

Several residents in North Little Rock have recently been approached by door-to-door sales people. Please be cautious and report any door-to-door solicitors.

The City of North Little Rock requires all individuals going door-to-door to sell a product or service to obtain a permit. The City of North Little Rock currently does not have any permitted door-to-door sales. Several residents in North Little Rock have been approached by door-to-door sales people. Please be cautious and report any door-to-door solicitors. The applicant must fill out an application provided by the city, provide an Arkansas State Police background check, a Surety Bond in the applicant’s name, no less than $1,000, a passport-size photo, $6 administration fee, and a $75 Business/Privilege License fee. All permit applications are sent to the North Little Rock Police Chief, who reviews all requests and either approves or denies permit requests within five business days. Issued permits are good for 90 days.  Any person found going door-to-door without the proper photo identification issued by the North Little Rock City Clerk will be subject to a citation and may be required to appear in court. If found guilty, the person will be subject to a fine and court costs.  If a person fails to appear for the scheduled court date, their driver’s license will be suspended, and a Failure to Appear Warrant will be issued in the person’s name.

Please note, the City of North Little Rock requires ALL persons doing business in the city to obtain a City Business/Privilege License. Any person or business operating without a license will be subject to a citation, etc. as listed above.  Businesses include food trucks, brick-and-mortar establishments, door-to-door flyers, lawn care services, tree trimming, and financial sales, among others. If a person holds a state license of any kind (contractor, stylist, health inspection, daycare, etc.) a copy is also required before a City Business/Privilege License will be issued.

If someone comes to your door selling a product and is unable to produce a North Little Rock city-issued photo identification, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday, please call the City Clerk’s Office at 501-975-8617.  If it is after hours or on the weekend, please call the North Little Rock Police Department non-emergency number at 501-758-1234.  If a person comes to your door and you feel threatened, please call 911. When making either call, please provide the address, description of the person at your door and what they are wearing and type of vehicle if known.
