Mayor’s Summer Youth Program 2024

The Mayor’s Summer Youth Program is now accepting applications for this summer. Apply by April 29, 2024.

North Little Rock Mayor Terry Hartwick will host a Summer Youth Program which begins Monday, June 3, 2024 for high school and college students Only online applications will be accepted:  www.nlr.ar.gov/jobs  and the deadline to apply for the program is 4:00 pm on Monday, April 29, 2024. Late applications will not be accepted. Applicants must be between 16-24 years old and reside in North Little Rock. Available positions will be filled by Mayoral appointment, paid $11/hour and participants will work up to 352 hours during the program. Participants cannot be related to a North Little Rock city employee.

Job-related tests, interviews or other types of selection methods may be administered in order to determine whether an applicant possesses the required knowledge, skill and ability. A thorough background check and other necessary screening will be made on all persons selected for hire. Positions available in the Summer Youth Program include:

  • CLERICAL. Duties include: typing, filing, answering phones, greeting the public, word processing/data entry, using calculator, operating copy machine, opening mail, etc. Experience and/or related high school/college courses preferred. Some positions require 18 years minimum age.
  • LABORERS. Duties include: general cleanup, picking up trash, janitorial duties, running errands, weed eating, mowing, trimming, light hauling, painting, sign maintenance, landscaping, etc. Experience preferred. Most positions require a valid Driver’s License and safe driving record. Some positions require 18 years minimum age.
  • RECREATION. Duties include: Assists Recreation Program Leaders with Summer Activity Program at the community centers, assist with recreational activities, monitors children during various recreational activities (arts, sports, games, field trips, etc.), assist with keeping attendance records and cleanliness of the facility, etc.
