One month to go: 12 ways to experience the 2024 total solar eclipse in North Little Rock

NORTH LITTLE ROCK (Tuesday, March 12, 2024) – North Little Rock Tourism has compiled a list of twelve unique locations for viewing the April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

“With such a varied mix of natural and urban viewing locations, North Little Rock offers visitors the opportunity to choose their experience of the eclipse,” said Stephanie Slagle, Director of Marketing & Strategic Communications for North Little Rock Tourism. “Some people prefer to be surrounded by nature, others want to walk to dining and enjoy live music, and still others want an unusual experience they can’t get anywhere else. North Little Rock provides all three, plus more.”

  1. Moon Block Party at Argenta Plaza (three days of free activities). Monday, April 8, only: Main Street from 6th to Broadway closed for outdoor dining. Address: 510 Main Street, North Little Rock, AR 72114
  2. Solar Eclipse Watch Weekend at Downtown Riverside RV Park (RVs only, limited spots available). Address: 250 S. Locust Street, North Little Rock, AR 72114
  3. USS Razorback 2024 Eclipse Viewing at the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum (limited spots available). Address: 120 Riverfront Park Drive, North Little Rock, AR 72114
  4. Solar Eclipse Watch Party at the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub. Address: 204 E 4th Street, North Little Rock, AR 72114
  5. Lindsey’s Eclipse Block Party at Lindsey’s BBQ & Hospitality House (reservations recommended but not required). Address: 207 Curtis Sykes Drive, North Little Rock, AR 72114
  6. Total Eclipse in the Park – Burns Park Soccer Complex (ticketed). Address: 1 Soccer Avenue, North Little Rock, AR 72118
  7. Total Eclipse in the Park at North Little Rock Riverfront Park (ticketed). Park at Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum. Address: 120 Riverfront Park Drive, North Little Rock, AR 72114
  8. Rent a kayak or bike with Rock Town River Outfitters
  9. Watch the Eclipse on the Farm with St. Joseph Center of Arkansas (RVs, camping, limited rooms available). Address: 6800 Camp Robinson Road, North Little Rock, AR 72118
  10. Total Eclipse of the Park at Dickey-Stephens Park (free viewing, paid parking) – opening weekend with eclipse activities. Address: 400 W Broadway Street, North Little Rock, AR 72114

  12. Buy eclipse glasses and merchandise from the North Little Rock Welcome Center in advance and enjoy at your hotel or home. Address: 600 Main Street, Suite 120, North Little Rock, AR 72114

To help people find a location that best fits their eclipse viewing preferences, North Little Rock Tourism has also created a fun quiz. The destination marketing organization is also encouraging out-of-town visitors to plan ahead, make reservations and come early to beat the congestion.

“Our hope is that any first-time visitors to Arkansas and North Little Rock have such a positive experience, they want to come back again,” Slagle said. “There will be plenty for visitors to explore: opening weekend of the Arkansas Travelers, live entertainment in the Argenta Arts District, excellent dining throughout the city, and warmer weather to enjoy North Little Rock’s natural assets like The Old Mill and Burns Park.”

The “hub” of eclipse weekend activity in North Little Rock will be Argenta Plaza’s Moon Block Party, hosted by North Little Rock Tourism. The weekend of free eclipse activities begins Saturday, April 6, at 11 a.m. and ends Monday, April 8, at 4 p.m. The schedule, which includes vendor market, silent disco, live music and free fitness classes, is available online: https://northlittlerock.org/april-6-april-8-moon-block-party-at-argenta-plaza/.

North Little Rock, Arkansas, is one of the locations in the narrow swath of totality during the Total Eclipse on April 8, 2024. The eclipse begins at 12:34 p.m. with maximum coverage at 1:52 p.m. and concludes at 3:12 p.m. With its central location in Arkansas, easy access from major U.S. highways and less than 20 minutes from Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, North Little Rock will be one of the most convenient cities in the U.S. for experiencing the solar eclipse. North Little Rock is expecting an estimated 70,000 visitors passing through or staying in the area.
