DESCRIPTION:NLR Fire Department’s Fire Fest will be held at the McCain Mall south parking lot.  \n\n\n\nSO MANY FUN ACTIVITIES: \n\n\n\n\nKid’s Combat Challenge\n\n\n\nFun\, FOOD\, and Games\n\n\n\nFire Department Displays\n\n\n\nMeet your local firefighters\n\n\n\nand more\n\n\n\n\nNorth Little Rock\, Arkansas (Monday\, October 9\, 2023)… The North Little Rock Fire Department is hosting the 2023 Fire Fest event on Tuesday\, October 10\, 2023 in the south parking lot of McCain Mall\, 3929 McCain Boulevard\, North Little Rock between the hours of 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The North Little Rock Fire Department (NLRFD) in conjunction with members of the Maumelle\, Little Rock\, Oak Grove\, Sherwood\, Arch Street\, Gravel Ridge\, Scott\, Runyan Acers and Camp Robinson Fire Departments along with MEMS\, the North Little Rock Police Department (NLRPD)\,and the Arkansas Game and Fish (AGFC). We are excited to gather and celebrate Fire Prevention Month by displaying fire apparatus\, offering a kid’s firefighter challenge course for ages 5-13\, and enjoy free food provided by First Security Bank to the first 500 people. Attendees can also participate in the following at Fire Fest: face painting by the North Little Rock Mayor’s Youth Council\, tips from the American Red Cross\, visit with the Recruiting Departments from the NLRFD and NLRPD\, a First-Aid table by the North Little Rock High School Med Pro Class\, Arkansas Children’s Hospital Community Impact\, North Little Rock Animal Shelter Mobile Adoption Unit\, North Little Rock Tourism\, William F. Laman Library Mobile Library\, MeTv\, and 1-800-BOARDUP will all be on site. \n\n\n\nThis year’s theme is: “Cooking Safety Starts with YOU”. Cooking is the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries\, according to statistics from the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA): \n\n\n\n\nUnited States fire departments responded to an estimated average of 158\,400 home structure fires per year started by cooking activities between 2017 and 2021.\n\n\n\nThese fires caused an average of 470 deaths and 4\,150 reported injuries annually.\n\n\n\nRanges or cooktops were involved in the 53% of reported home cooking fires\, 88% of cooking fire deaths and 74% of cooking fire injuries.\n\n\n\nUnattended cooking was the leading cause of cooking fires and casualties.\n\n\n\n\nPlease contact Captain Chris Patton\, Fire Marshal for the North Little Rock Fire Department\, for more information at cpatton@nlr.ar.gov or by phone\, 501-680-2624.

SUMMARY:Unsheltered Outreach Fair
DESCRIPTION:The City of North Little Rock is sponsoring an Outreach Fair for the unsheltered community on Friday\, October 13\, 2023 from 10 am – 3 pm at Riverfront Park\, 120 Riverfront Park Drive in North Little Rock. The purpose of the Outreach Fair is to share resources to our unsheltered community and improve the quality of life for citizens needing assistance. Numerous community organizations and sponsors have stepped up to contribute to the event. Lunch will be provided at the event\, free physical/mental health screenings\, a mobile shower unit\, hygiene items\, shave and haircuts\, assistance applying for an Arkansas identification card\, and the mobile Arkansas Workforce Center will also be on site. Assistance will be available for alcohol and opioid addiction\, securing Rock Region Metro Bus passes\, signing up for health insurance\, and a clothing bus. \n\n\n\nThe following businesses\, organizations and individuals have contributed to the Unsheltered Outreach Fair: Arkansas Workforce Centers\, Arkansas Department of Finance  & Administration\, Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation\, Baptist Health Community Outreach\, Chick- fil-a\, Central Arkansas Library System\, Department of Veterans Affairs – HCHV Outreach\, First North Little Rock\,  Ideal Option Arkansas\, Jefferson Comprehensive Care Systems\, Incorporated\, Legendary Institute\, Lindsey’s Hospitality House\, Maverick Transportation\, Mt.
