SUMMARY:Burns Park Pickleball Courts Opening
DESCRIPTION:The City of North Little Rock is excited to announce the opening of the new Burns Park Pickleball complex. The 12-court facility will provide much needed playing space for the growing number of pickleball advocates locally and throughout our state. “Pickleball is the fastest growing sport around. I am glad we now have such a nice\, outdoor facility for the pickleball community to enjoy.” shared Mayor Hartwick. John Towne\, with Divine Mercy Health Center\, has scheduled the Arvest Big Dill Pickleball Tournament at the complex for November 17-19\, 2023. Pickleball players\, city officials and the community are invited to attend the ribbon cutting and tour the new complex. There will be a special announcement regarding Burns Park at the ribbon cutting. \n\n\n\nAbout the Burns Park Pickleball Complex \n\n\n\nConstruction began in February of this year by JCon Incorporated and was delayed due to the March 31 tornado. The North Little Rock Engineering Department designed and oversaw the construction of the space. By completing the majority of the work in-house\, the city saved a substantial amount of money. The total construction cost was $750\,0000. Numerous city departments were involved in the construction of the facility: \n\n\n\n\nStreet: Hauled base material to the site to cut down on trucking costs.\n\n\n\nParks: Hauled base material to the site\, assisted with coordination of all utilities.\n\n\n\nWastewater: Relocated service line from bathroom.\n\n\n\nElectric: Provided the light fixtures on the courts and ran power to the facility.\n\n\n\nTraffic: striped the parking lot
