Arkansas is one of two locations – the other being Honolulu\, Hawaii – with ships present at both the beginning and end of World War II. According to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs\, of the millions who served\, 119\,550 World War II veterans are alive today. Around 1\,144 World War II veterans live in Arkansas.
