The Gala will benefit the Dark Hollow Community Development Corporation. The Dark Hollow Community Development Corporation (DHCDC) launched its first educational program with great success on Saturday, August 16, 2025. The Introductory Cell Phone Skills Session, envisioned by DHCDC Educational Development Leader Ornett Grind, was hosted at McCabe Chapel United Methodist Church, 1523 N. Pine Street, by member Dr. Brenda Lewis.

]]> The Mayor’s Office of Volunteer Service celebrated the 28th Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on May 31st 2024.

Phyllis Killeen, volunteer at the North Little Rock Animal Shelter, was named 2024 Volunteer of the Year. She has worked many years and countless hours at the Animal Shelter. Her clocked hours for 2023 were 900 plus.

Lakewood Property Owners Association was the 2024 Program of the Year. The association recently got a community garden grant and has logged 11,000 plus hours.

Marleene Calvin was the recipient of a special award for more than 500 hours logged for 2024. Ms. Calvin teaches numerous classes at the Patrick Henry Hays Center.
