MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY: • Associates Degree (AA/AS) or Vocational School certificate and 2 years related experience; or high school diploma/GED and four years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Basic to intermediate skill in the use of a computer terminal for data entry and retrieval. Knowledge of ACIC/NCIC use or ability to learn quickly.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY: Assists citizens, visitors and department personnel during and after normal business hours and holidays. Provides office administrative support where needed throughout the Police Department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Takes Reports: takes general reports by telephone and at window; accepts stolen vehicle reports and stolen property reports; assists persons who come to the window to complete reports. • Maintains Building Security: monitors access to building; operates automatic lock on door to inner offices, opening to allow authorized persons entrance; unlocks doors at beginning of regular office hours; locks doors to building after regular office hours when necessary; reports maintenance problems to appropriate persons. • Serves as Night Clerk: accepts exact change for bond money, completes bond form and gives a receipt after hours. • Enters Data into and Retrieves Data from Computer Database: enters and confirms warrants in database; clears warrants from data base; enters and confirms stolen vehicle and property information in database; checks warrants for field units and other authorized personnel; enters and confirms missing persons in database; deletes missing persons. • Keeps/Checks Records: posts data in PC data files; retrieves and compiles data as necessary; keeps data in manual logs; checks vehicles listed on wrecker company tow sheets against ACIC/NCIC records of stolen vehicles; forwards information to the Investigations Division. • Serves as Receptionist: answers phone; greets visitors; refers callers to the appropriate person or office; takes information from citizens, filling out appropriate report or form; provides information about the police department. • Miscellaneous Duties: distributes pay checks; makes copies and faxes information to appropriate places; prepares releases for use by owner to retrieve vehicles in storage.

Semi-Skilled Laborer - Street Dept. - 14090

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent assists on any one of the three crews (asphalt, masonry, or right of way crew) by performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Asphalt Crew: pothole patching truck; breaks up street or road for replacement or repair, using jackhammer and shovels; rakes asphalt during overlay operations and street/road repair. • Masonry Crew: measures for concrete boxes and reinforcing steel used in process; builds and sets wooden forms using wood, nails, and hammer; sets steel ring inside concrete for clean-out; patches concrete pipes; digs ditch for footing for boxes; assists with excavation, lays concrete blocks or bricks to build basins; assists in pouring concrete for catch basins, curbs, and sidewalks; assists in the finishing and “dressing” of basin and curb concrete work; removes basin and curb forms. • Right of Way Crew: operates spray truck to service ditches and roadside areas; supervises police crews picking up on right of way areas and cutting crews removing brush or trees on city property. • Other Tasks: reads daily work orders and writes daily activity reports; breaks up curbs, gutters, or sidewalks for replacement or repair, using jackhammer and concrete saw; picks up trash in the City right-of-ways; picks up brush in the City; paints guard rails. • Operating Equipment: operates a 2-way radio; drives tandem axle dump truck to daily job assignment; performs daily start-up maintenance on vehicles and equipment.

Heavy Equipment Operator -Street Dept - 14091

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Valid Class A CDL and a good driving record. • Two (2) years of directly related experience operating heavy equipment.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves on one of three crews and operates a variety of heavy equipment used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of City streets and other related City properties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Operates equipment: operates a bulldozer to move materials such as gravel, rock, sand, etc. and to prepare road beds and shoulders for road construction, or excavation for road repairs, utility cuts and parking lots; operates a backhoe to move, load, or unload raw materials and to prepare road bed and shoulders for construction or excavation; operates a gradall to move, load or unload raw materials or prepare road beds and shoulders; operates asphalt paver and drag paver to spread hot asphalt on road bed; operates roller (steel wheel and rubber tire) to smooth and compact newly laid asphalt or rock base on road beds; operates grader to smooth road base or spread asphalt when making repairs to road beds; operates rubber tire or tracked front end loader to prepare road bed and shoulders for construction or excavation; operates forklift as necessary in the construction and repair of streets and roads; operates sand/salt spreader and snow plow for road clearing during icy winter weather; operates flush truck and vacall to clean and maintain City drainage systems; operate track hoe and dozer in cleaning drainage ditches around the city; operates tracked linkbelt excavator occasionally; operates a bush hog with tractor occasionally. • Drive various vehicles: drives ½ ton or Ύ ton pickup, 1 or 2 ton flat bed dump truck, 6 yd, 10 yd, or 14 yd tandem axle dump truck daily; drives a dump truck with tilt trailer daily and a tractor with dump trailer or lowboy trailer regularly to transport equipment; drives a tractor-trailer rig or tractor with a gooseneck trailer occasionally to transport heavy equipment; drives a boom truck or bucket truck occasionally. • Street Maintenance: uses hand tools or equipment in construction and repair of streets, roads and related properties; uses a shovel, pick, jackhammer, compactor, sledgehammer and street broom regularly; uses a chainsaw and asphalt rake occasionally; uses a limbsaw, weedeater, axe, lopping shears, pitchfork, rake, and Kaiserblade occasionally to remove foliage from right-of-ways and drainage courses.Load and unload equipment. • Loads and unloads equipment. • Equipment Maintenance: performs preventive maintenance; checks oil, water, hydraulic levels, tires and other functions daily. • Serves as Crewleader in the absence of the assigned Crewleader.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • 18+ years of age -- age verification required upon hire. • Related computer experience and experience in a multi-tasking work environment. • Passing Score on Public Safety Dispatcher Test (MUST be able to type at least 22 wpm to pass).

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Call center experience preferred but not required. • Good work history, evidenced by stability and satisfactory character, performance, conduct and attendance. • Physical and psychological ability to perform duties in a stressful environment. • Good customer service and interpersonal skills.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two years experience managing a fleet of vehicles or similar workplace; OR High school diploma or equivalent and six years progressively responsible experience managing a fleet of vehicles or vehicle repair and maintenance operations; OR equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities • A Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) and good driving record. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs the activities and employees of the Vehicle Maintenance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Directs operations: works under the direction of the Public Works Director to plan, schedule, and oversee repair and preventive maintenance of City vehicles and equipment; supervises employees; ensures that facilities, equipment, and operations are in compliance with all applicable state (AOSH) and Federal (OSHA) safety laws, provides appropriate safety training and monitors for violations of safety laws.

• Directs record keeping: supervises computerized inventory and record-keeping system; ensures accuracy of inventory.

• Manages stock: approves requisitions: determines necessity for, and specifications of, new equipment; approves orders for replacement materials and supplies.

• Oversees annual budget: plans expenses for year; prepares budget; monitors expenditures continuously.
