If you know where to look, you will find hidden gems all across North Little Rock. This one is at St. Joseph Center, where Charlie Jackson has been gardening for years and now shares his joy of gardening with dozens of other aspiring gardeners at St. Joseph's Community Garden.
There's another one in Rose City, at North Little Rock Academy on Lynch Drive. In less than six months, Principal Charles Jones, Science Teacher James Edwards, and students created a large and thriving garden on the side of the school building. The garden teaches students about agriculture, nutrition, project management, and gives them valuable service hours.
There's another one at Heritage House in Baring Cross, where residents have created a veritable green wonderland behind the building.
These are just some of North Little Rock's 22 community garden projects that have been funded by the City's Fit 2 Live Community Garden Program. And we're still growing! Applications for the next round of funding are due August 3rd. For more information, visit www.nlr.ar.gov/gardens.
